Water Ordinances

Did you know your city or water provider has an ordinance or policy regulating your water use? As summer months approach and your water use normally increases it is a great time to check out your water provider's ordinance or policies to verify you are complying with them. Most have restrictions on the time of day your lawn may be watered, and most have penalties associated with non-compliance.

Southern California is now in its third year of drought. In February, the Governor declared a state of emergency encouraging Californians to decrease water use by at least 20 percent. Record low rainfall has left many areas in California in short supply of water. Reservoirs throughout the state are well below normal levels. Additionally, due to federal regulations, there is a decreased supply of water available from the State Water Project. Due to water shortages and economic impacts and the implementation of Metropolitan Water District's Water Allocation Plan, less water will be available for use. In response to this, many cities and water providers have recently updated their Drought or Water Usage Ordinances/Policies and enacted restrictions on water use. You may click on the links below to visit the website of your water provider.
